Why Chelmsford owners book a private field

A public walk is a gamble when your dog is reactive, nervous or still learning recall. One loose dog can undo weeks of training. In a private field the gate is shut behind you and no other dog comes in for your whole session. That makes it the right place to practise recall, help a rescue build confidence or let an older dog wander without being bowled over.

Every field has car parking, so you go straight from the car to the gate without walking past other dogs.

Make the first visit count

Bring water, a long line if recall is still a work in progress, and your dog's favourite toy or treats. Walk the fence line together first so your dog learns the space, then unclip and let them settle. Some dogs need a session or two to realise nobody else is coming.

Booking is simple

  1. Pick your field online. It takes about 2 minutes.
  2. Arrive, go through the gate and shut it behind you.
  3. Unclip the lead and let them run.

Finally somewhere I can let my dog off the lead without the anxiety.

Which field suits your dog?

For a big, fast dog, the larger fields on Wash Road at Basildon give room to stretch out. For a dog who jumps, choose a field with 6ft fencing, such as Fields A and B on Dunton Road. For a nervous dog, a quiet weekday session is a gentle start. Read our tips for reactive dogs in a private field, or compare every site on the dog fields page. Heading south?
