"We've been coming twice a week for months and it never gets old. The fencing is high, secure and double-gated — I genuinely feel safe every single time. Spacious enough for a proper run, there's a hut and wooden table so you're not just standing in a field. Absolutely perfect for my dogs. 100% recommend."

WHAT IS A PRIVATE DOG FIELD?

A private dog field is a fully enclosed, securely fenced outdoor space that you book for exclusive use. Unlike public parks or dog-friendly open spaces, nobody else can enter while you're there — no other dogs, no other owners, no strangers.

You book a 30-minute or 1-hour slot online, arrive at your field, let yourself in through the double-gated entry, and the space is entirely yours for your session. When your time is up, you leave — and a buffer gap between sessions means you won't cross paths with the next booking on your way out.

It's the off-lead freedom your dog deserves, without the unpredictability that makes most public spaces stressful.

WHY PRIVATE?

Why a private field beats a public park. Every single time.

Public parks are free but they come with a cost most dog owners know too well — the scanning-ahead anxiety, the "is that dog friendly?" calculation every 30 seconds, the sudden sprint across the field from someone else's dog that undoes three months of recall training in one moment.

Private dog fields remove all of that. Here's what you actually get:

Complete privacy. Your booking, your field, your session. No one else enters while you're there — not another owner, not another dog.

Proper security. All Foxes Farm Fields locations are fully fenced with double-gated entry. Your dog isn't going anywhere, and nobody unexpected is coming in.

Real off-lead freedom. No lead needed. No recall anxiety because there's nothing to recall from. Just a dog doing what dogs are supposed to do — running, sniffing, being a dog.

No judgement. Reactive dog? Rescue who isn't ready for crowds? Dog who just goes absolutely feral when they see another animal? Doesn't matter here. Your field. Your rules.

Enough space for a real run. Not a patch of grass. Actual fields — big enough for zoomies, sprints, fetch, and everything in between.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I found Foxes Farm Fields while looking for ways to give my French Bulldog the best time he has left. I'd heard of private dog fields but never knew there was one in Upminster — and I'm so gutted I didn't find it sooner. He ran his little heart out. Completely free, completely happy. For a dog who's never had that kind of freedom before, it meant everything. Thank you so much."

WHO ARE PRIVATE DOG FIELDS FOR?

Reactive dogs. If your dog can't be trusted around other dogs or pulls, lunges, or barks when another animal appears — a private field is the only place they can genuinely be off-lead without the anxiety. No triggers. No surprises. No other dogs within sight.

Rescue dogs and new arrivals. A new rescue needs time to decompress and build confidence before they're ready for the chaos of public spaces. A private field gives them that — a calm, controlled environment where they can explore at their own pace.

Puppies. Puppies need socialisation, but they also need safe spaces to burn energy, learn recall, and practice basic commands without distraction. A private field is perfect for early training in a secure, stimulating environment.

Dogs in recovery. Post-surgery, post-illness, or older dogs who need gentle, managed exercise in a safe space. You control the pace. Nobody else is making demands on your dog's attention.

Multiple dog households. Bring the whole pack. All your dogs, one booking, no negotiation with strangers at the gate.

Dog walkers and professionals. Weekday availability across multiple Essex locations makes our fields a practical, premium solution for professional dog walkers with client dogs in their care.

FAQ SECTION

Private Dog Fields Essex — Everything You Need to Know

What is a private dog field? A private dog field is a fully enclosed, secure outdoor space hired exclusively by you for a set time slot. When you book a session at Foxes Farm Fields, the entire field is yours — no other dogs, no other owners, no public access. You arrive, let yourself in through the double-gated entry, and enjoy complete privacy for your session.

How does booking work? Book online through our website or the SimplyBook app. Pick your nearest location, choose your date and time, read and accept our field rules, pay online, and you're confirmed. You'll receive booking details with access instructions. The whole process takes under two minutes.

How much does a private dog field cost? Sessions at Foxes Farm Fields start from £7 for shorter slots and from £10 for a full hour, depending on the location. Pricing is shown clearly when you select your field and session time at booking. We also offer multi-session packages for regular visitors.

Are the fields safe for reactive dogs? Yes — this is exactly what private fields are built for. All Foxes Farm Fields locations are fully fenced with double-gated entry, and because the field is exclusively yours for the session, your reactive dog will not encounter another dog on arrival, during, or when leaving. A buffer gap between sessions means no crossover at the gate.

How many dogs can I bring? You can bring multiple dogs from the same household. The number of dogs permitted per session varies slightly by location and is shown at booking. Most of our fields comfortably accommodate two to four dogs. Contact us if you have a larger group.

Are the fields fenced? How high? All Foxes Farm Fields locations are fully fenced with double-gated entry. Fencing heights vary by location and are shown on each individual field page. Fields are designed to be secure for dogs of all sizes and energy levels.

What surfaces do the fields have? Our fields are natural grass. Some locations have additional features including shelter/covered areas, wooden seating, and agility equipment. Each field page shows the specific features for that location.

Can my dog be off the lead? Yes. That's the whole point. All fields are fully enclosed, so your dog does not need to be on a lead at any point during your session. The exception is our leaded field in Upminster which is designed specifically for dogs who need a structured, secure environment with lead work.

What if it rains? Our fields are outdoor and available year-round in all weathers. Some locations have covered shelter areas. If you need a guaranteed all-weather, fully indoor option, our Indoor Dog Play Barn at Eight Ash Green, Colchester is available 7 days a week including evenings — find out more here.

Can I bring my children? Yes. Your booking is exclusive — you can bring whoever you like. Many families use our fields for a dog session the whole family can enjoy together.

What do I need to bring? Fresh water for your dog — particularly important in warmer months and for longer sessions. Poo bags. Suitable footwear for grass, especially in wetter months. Everything else is taken care of.

What is the cancellation policy? We ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Full terms are shown at booking.

Where are you located? We have 12 private dog field locations across Essex including Basildon, Upminster, Colne Engaine, Eight Ash Green, Great Bromley, and more. Use the map and field listings above to find your nearest location.

Do you have indoor dog field options? Yes. Our Indoor Dog Play Barn at Eight Ash Green, Colchester is a 162 square metre fully private indoor space — warm, dry, and exclusively yours for your session. It's available 7 days a week including evenings and is particularly popular for reactive dogs and bad-weather sessions. [Book the Dog Barn here].
