Private Dog Fields Across Essex
Spring has arrived, the evenings are back, and your dog is ready. After months of lead walks and crowded parks, April is the month to give them what they have actually been waiting for — a private enclosed field, just for you two, with the gate shut and the lead off.
At Foxes Farm Fields we have eleven private dog walking fields and an indoor Dog Barn spread across Essex, from Basildon in the south to Colchester in the north, with Upminster covering the London fringe. Wherever you are in the county, there is a field within reach.

Why April Is the Right Month to Book
April hits the sweet spot. The ground has firmed up, the worst mud is behind you, and the evenings are long enough that an after-work session is genuinely enjoyable. It is warm enough to stay outside for an hour but cool enough that your dog can run flat out without overheating.
Eleven Fields. One County. Find Yours.
South Essex — Basildon We have four fields in the Basildon area. Fields A and B sit on Dunton Road in Laindon; Fields C and D are on Wash Road in Noak Bridge, adjacent to the Billericay Dog School. If you want off-lead freedom in south Essex — whether you're in Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay, or anywhere in between — this is your cluster.
North Essex — Colchester, Great Bromley & Colne Engaine The Colchester end of the network gives you three options. Eight Ash Green on Foxes Lane is a 6ft fenced field just outside Colchester — enclosed, quiet, and about as peaceful as Essex gets. Great Bromley on Hilliards Road offers two fields: a standard enclosed walking field with views over ponds and farmland, and the Paw Patch — an agility field with over eight obstacles including tunnels, seesaws, hurdles, and weave bars. If your dog needs to actually think as well as run, the Paw Patch is the one. Colne Engaine on Mill Lane is different again — a rural agricultural walk across open farmland between Colchester and Halstead, with views over the Colne Valley. This is not a fenced paddock; it is a genuine countryside experience on private land.
East London Fringe — Upminster Three off-lead enclosed fields on Hall Lane and Bird Lane give Upminster, Havering, and the east London fringe proper private dog walking space without leaving Essex. If your dog needs open meadow and farm views rather than the local park, this is as close as it gets to the city. We also have the Upminster Leaded Dog Walking Trail on Hall Lane — a private on-lead nature trail across land that is normally closed to the public. Not every dog needs to be off-lead to have a brilliant session, and this gives walkers something genuinely different: private countryside, no crowds, no public footpaths.
When the Forecast Lets You Down — The Dog Barn
Essex in April is not always sunshine. The Dog Barn at our Great Bromley site is our enclosed indoor space — the same private-hire principle as the fields, under cover. A 55-minute indoor session from £30 means a poor forecast is never a reason to cancel. It is particularly useful for nervous dogs who find wide open spaces overwhelming, and for puppies who need safe, clean exercise away from unknown dogs.
Who Books in April?
Dogs in recall training who need space without distraction. Reactive or nervous dogs that find public parks stressful. Puppies that need off-lead time in a clean, controlled environment. Multi-dog households who want everyone running free at once. And owners who have simply had enough of lead walks round the same streets and want their dog to actually enjoy a session.
How to Book
